What Is the HireVue E-Motions Game?

E-Motions presents facial-expression images with a set of emotion labels. Compare the visible cues across the whole face and choose the label that best fits each image.

The Core Task

Observe a facial expression and select the label that best fits your interpretation from the options shown.

Why Context and Labels Matter

Similar visible cues can support more than one interpretation without context. Use the available options while remembering that a still image cannot capture a person's complete emotional state.

What This Practice Focuses On

This practice focuses on observation, comparison of facial cues, discrimination between labels, and response control.

What to Expect During E-Motions Practice

Full Timed Practice

Premium practice uses a four-minute round with varied facial-expression images and label options. Apply the same whole-face comparison routine to each prompt under time pressure.

HireVue E-Motions Tips

Check Upper and Lower Face Together

Compare eyes and brows with the mouth and jaw. Mixed cues require more care than a single obvious feature.

Distinguish Intensity from Category

A subtle expression may use the same category as a stronger one. Do not create a different label only because the cue is faint.

Use the Available Options

Interpret the face within the label set shown. The best option may be broader than the word you would use in everyday conversation.

Do Not Carry One Uncertain Item Forward

After responding, release the previous face and begin the next image with a fresh scan.

Understanding Your E-Motions Practice Results

The result summary reports only activity from this independent practice. It is not an official HireVue score and cannot predict an employer decision.

Prompts Completed

The total number of expression prompts answered before the full-practice timer ended.

Average Response Time

The average time between an expression prompt becoming answerable and your label selection.

Selected Emotion Distribution

A descriptive count of how often you selected each available emotion label. It is not an empathy, personality, or emotional-intelligence score.

Practice results are independent feedback and are not an official HireVue score.

HireVue E-Motions Game FAQ

Does this practice use my webcam?

No. This practice uses provided image prompts and does not access or analyze your camera.

How long is E-Motions practice?

The free experience is one interactive image. Premium practice includes a four-minute timed round.

How should I review my E-Motions practice result?

There is no universal public passing score. Review completed prompts, response pace, and selected-label patterns as descriptive practice activity rather than an official ability score.

How closely does this practice follow the HireVue E-Motions format?

It follows the core emotion-classification interaction: study a facial expression and choose the label that best fits it while the timer continues. HireVueGames creates its own images, labels, interface, and feedback, so this is format practice rather than an exact copy of HireVue's assessment.
